During the Summer of my second year of law school at Mercer University , I had the privilege of clerking for Justice Hugh P . Thompson at the Georgia Supreme Court . It was a wonderful experience !
One of my fondest memories and best piece of advice from Justice Thompson , who also had a great sense of humor , was when he remarked , “ If you find yourself in a hole , stop digging .” I appreciated that he always stressed the importance of personal accountability and responsibility within the legal profession .
One internship of mine was with Atlanta Legal Aid , and I now work here , 42 years later . My other experience was with the City Solicitor ' s Office for Atlanta . I was able to work with their 1st woman solicitor , Mary Welcome . It was a great experience to canvas the areas , and to speak with business people , and homeowners about the negative effect of the bathhouses . Welcome went on to effectively close these businesses down , and I think of that as the start of the revitalization of the Midtown / Downtown area . Pleased to have participated in that revitalization .

My fondest summer internship was at Eastman Chemical Company the summer before I started law school . I lived at home , saved money , and worked with fantastic people . Though chemicals were not my future , the experience helped shape my work ethic and gave me appreciation for good company culture .
While interning at the Macon prosecutor ' s office I was threatened by a man saying he would kill me . I never forgot it . Maybe that is why I work in Estate Planning and Probate .

I was a Summer intern for Judge George Kreeger in the Cobb County Superior Court prior to law school . I was on a field trip to the State Capitol with the other interns . Riding down I-75 in a prisoner bus complete with bars on the windows and a paint job that said “ prisoner ” definitely made an impact ! www . atlantabar . org THE ATLANTA LAWYER 9
