COMMUNITY but I do not pressure myself to commit to classes on specific days and times. While I may be working from home, my workload and obligations vary from day to day. I fit a yoga session in when I can, sometimes in the morning, during lunch, or even late at night before bed. I now have yoga-related groups texts with colleagues, and we encourage and motivate each other by posting which online classes we plan to “attend.” We get really excited to “see” each other in class, and it is a great way to stay connected and nurture a sense of community while social distancing. Fellow Atlanta Bar member and colleague, Laura Lansizera, recently told me, “I had no idea there were so many options online that didn’t require any equipment!” We have both committed to maintaining our home yoga practice when life goes back to “normal,” especially during hectic work weeks when we have limited time for ourselves. There is an old saying which says, “You can’t pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first.” As we continue to social distancing during these unprecedented and uncertain times, I encourage you to evaluate your work from home routines and try to set boundaries for work, wellness, and family where you can. It may not always be possible to do so, but any amount of time that you can carve out for yourself is invaluable. Next, I invite you to join me in my perfect/ imperfect home yoga practice! Below, I have listed some of my favorite online resources that offer free yoga, pilates, and meditation classes that require little or no equipment. One of my long-time favorites is the popular “Yoga with Adriene” YouTube channel. The classes are thirty minutes at most, but incredibly effective. Right now, I am on Day 12 of Adriene’s 30-Day Yoga Challenge. Lastly, I want to take a moment to recognize our healthcare and essential workers who have worked tirelessly throughout this pandemic. Because of them, we can take care of our families, our clients, and ourselves while sheltering in place. I wish you all continued health and wellness.
