enriching experiences of my
professional life.
Friday also includes receptions
for law school alumni. It is a
great time to catch up with old
classmates and favorite profes-
sors.
On Saturday, there are more
meetings and more networking
events, including the Pro Bono
Bloody Mary Reception, a time
to sip Mimosas or Bloody Marys
while honoring and celebrating
pro bono work and some of the
heroes of legal aid work. The
event always culminates with
the Inaugural Gala on Saturday
Night. The gala is a celebration
of the incoming bar president
and the start of a new bar year.
There is always good food, good
drinks, music, and dancing.
And yet even with all of these
events, there’s still always a little
down time to enjoy the meet-
ing location. In the past, I have
taken time to go shopping, go to
the spa, have a massage, or just
relax in my room with some de-
licious room service. However,
this year, with a giant pool and
sprawling ocean to enjoy, I had
my lunch poolside and spent
most of my free time lounging
on the beach.
There is no plainer way to say it,
if you’ve never gone to the State
Bar of Georgia Annual Meeting,
you are missing out.
