THE ATLANTA LAWYER
ldisalvo@morgandisalvo.com
continued our pro bono program with the Atlanta Volunteer
Lawyers Foundation and the Fulton County Probate Court
(the Probate Information Center). We ended this great year
by being selected as the Atlanta Bar Association’s Small
Section of the Year. As the new Immediate Past Chair of
the Section, I want to thank my fellow board members and
Section members for all their support, enthusiasm, and
participation over the past year. I could not have asked for
a better group. It was a true pleasure to work with everyone.
We had a great turnout for our last meeting of the past year
on May 8, 2013. Brian Deutsch and Millie Baumbusch of
Gaslowitz Frankel, LLC and DeKalb County Probate Court
Judge Jeryl Rosh discussed many of the difficult issues
surrounding guardianships and conservatorships. For our
June 12th breakfast, Richard W. Cohen, M.D., the Medical
Director for the Wellstar Ethics Program and Bruce H.
Gaynes, of Kitchens Kelley Gaynes, P.C., discussed the
new Physician Order Life Sustaining Treatment forms which
were developed by the Georgia Department of Public Health.
In July, in lieu of a breakfast meeting, our Section will host
its annual reception at the King & Prince on Saint Simons
Island, for the Fiduciary Law Institute. The reception will take
place on Wednesday, July 10th, and we hope all w ho are
attending the Institute will join us for drinks and light snacks
that evening.
We also have a full calendar scheduled for the rest of the
year. Our monthly breakfast meetings taking place the
second Wednesday of each month from August through May,
a luncheon featuring Professor Jeffrey N. Pennell of Emory
University School of Law will be on September 26, 2013, and
the next Estate Planning Forum, featuring Natalie Choate,
scheduled for October 30, 2013. I am looking forward to
another great year. ■
