Women In The Profession (WIP) Section Update

eorgia Bar Rules of Professional Conduct (Rule 6.1.)
urge every lawyer to provide at least fifty hours of pro
bono legal services per year. WIP has strengthened
its commitment to service as an important tenet of the
legal profession and is proud to offer its members various
opportunities to meet these service ideals. For the fourth
year, WIP continues its ongoing partnership with Atlanta
Legal Aid’s Breast Cancer Project/Cancer Legal Initiative
providing pro bono legal services to cancer patients through
Grady Healthcare and DeKalb Medical. WIP members who
have been trained to conduct outreach and screening have
committed to volunteer hospital shifts through March with
additional shifts for next quarter becoming available midFebruary.
In addition to offering legal service, WIP believes that
dedicating time and assistance to the community in a nonlegal capacity is equally as important especially in areas

that are of interest to our members. In the Fall of 2012, WIP
established a relationship with Foreverfamily, an Atlanta
organization committed to fortifying the lives of children who
have an incarcerated parent by supporting the child in many
areas of their life and educating the current caretaker. WIP
is Foreverfamily’s “Tuesday Night Dinner “ partner – where
