Solutions have supported programs and events by offering
services and financial support for many years; Todd Drucker
of JAMS continues to offer financial support as well as CLE
programs; Hansell Roddenbery of CresaPartners has
been a tremendous asset to help us with lease renewals
and renovations; David N. Boughter, Jr. at FirmTech; and
everyone at the Daily Report has supported us forever with
Ed Bean, Susan Campbell and Wayne Curtis serving in
those roles currently. Many thanks to Bill Mahan, who has
served as our outside photographer for as long as I can
remember. It takes a lot of special people to help organize
as many programs and events as the Atlanta Bar Association
sponsors annually and I appreciate all of their support.
I had no involvement with the Search Committee, chaired by
S. Wade Malone first and then by Rita A. Sheffey, but knew
they would find the perfect person to be the fifth Executive
Director of the Atlanta Bar Association, They succeeded by
offering the position to Terri Beck, the Executive Director of
one of our Community partners, Everybody Wins! So thank
you Wade, Rita, Liz Price, Judge Mel Westmoreland,
Maggie Vath, Dawn Jones, Lynn Roberson and Wade
Watson for your efforts and your success with bringing Terri
Beck and Jessica Galusha to join the Atlanta Bar Association
team.
And, finally, I extend my appreciation to Robin Frazer Clark,
president of the State Bar of Georgia, and the Board of
Governors for bestowing the Eunice L. Mixon Award to me
on Saturday, January 12, 2013. I am very honored to have
received this prestigious award as I end my career with the
Atlanta Bar Association.
I do have a parting request for everyone – PLEASE continue
to support the Atlanta Bar Association with your membership,
your participation and leadership, by attending the Section,
CLE and other events, with your sponsorship contributions,
and most importantly by being an evangelist to others about
the Atlanta Bar Association. The Association needs not
only to maintain the current status but to grow and expand.
Everyone will benefit.
I feel very good about leaving this wonderful Association to
Terri Beck as I now “rewire”, as Judge Dorothy Beasley
describes retiring, for the next chapter of my life. Please
keep in touch – [email protected]. To quote my sweet
Mother, I just love you to pieces and sincerely appreciate
everything you have done for me through all these years. ■
With much love and appreciation,
Diane after the Bar.
