Buckhead Club . The breakfast meeting featured a presentation from Charles Crawford , Amy Ellis , and Joel Higdon of HyperionBank on Banking Solutions for Small Law Firms .
January ’ s lunch event , hosted on January 26 , 2023 , at 5Church Midtown , featured Chris Clayton and Ross Mackenzie of Carr Riggs & Ingram LLC , who presented on essential tax information for attorneys and law firms .
The SP / SF section returned back to the Buckhead Club on February 2 , 2023 , for a breakfast meeting with Jonathan Hawkins ( Law Firm GC ). Hawkins had the early morning crowd enthralled with the help of movie and TV clips that helped him present the nine principles of negotiation .
On Februsry 23 , 2023 , the section had the pleasure of listening in on Ellaretha Coleman ( E . Jones & Associates , LLC ) over lunch at 5Church Midtown . Coleman presented on the key elements of a goal-oriented , metrics-based business plan to help Section members create consistent revenues and achieve financial security .
The past two months of events have provided a great networking space for members of the SP / SF Section to learn essential lessons from great business leaders outside of our industries . We are excited to continue learning with our upcoming lunch and breakfast meetings we have planned throughout the spring . Women in the Profession Section
On Sunday , January 29 , 2023 , the WIP Board and section members volunteered at the Nicholas House . The Nicholas House is a nonprofit emergency shelter that takes in homeless families . Our volunteers prepared the items needed for dinner : meatloaf , BBQ chicken , pasta , salad , succotash , cookies , drinks , and more . The volunteers then plated and served dinner to around 30 women and children staying at the Nicholas House . We were also delighted to be joined by one of our sponsors , Jennifer Toner with Trustpoint .
On Monday , February 13 , 2023 , WIP partnered with the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers for a Galentine ’ s Day Happy Hour to celebrate female friendships , old and new . The event took place at Fado ’ s in Midtown and featured drinks and light appetizers . Registration was at maximum capacity over a week prior to the event , and the happy hour had a great showing by both WIP and GAWL members .
On Monday , March 13 , 2023 in partnership with the Small Practice / Small Firm Section , we featured a panel discussion with accomplished female attorneys and law firm owners in celebration of Women ’ s History Month . The event was at 5Church in Midtown .
