two bills that impose similar restrictions on voting , among other things , eliminating no-excuse absentee voting , limiting early voting hours , restricting drop-boxes for mail ballots , and curtailing early voting on Sundays . Prominent members of the Atlanta business community — Coca-Cola , The Home Depot , Delta , and UPS — either oppose these bills or support greater voting access for all eligible voters . All this follows an election and a runoff with record turnout by Black voters and young voters and occurs in a state where non-Hispanic Whites are now less than sixty percent of the population and are predicted to be less than fifty percent by 2028 . Then there is the historical lens , which we ignore at our peril .
So many issues here . At least one , however , is how are we going to live together in this City , this State ? Put differently , how much democracy do we want ?
