WOMEN IN THE PROFESSION Throughout the year, the Women in the Profession (WIP) Section hosts networking events during which women lawyers can interact and develop support systems. WIP also organizes continuing education courses, community service opportunities, and other substantive programs. Here is a look at what the section’s been up to so far this year: • • On January 22, WIP co-hosted a networking social along with the Atlanta Bar Public Interest and Atlanta Council of Younger Lawyers sections. The guests enjoyed the refreshments, camaraderie, a photo booth – and one lucky attendee won tickets to an Atlanta Hawks game. Last month, WIP, along with the Stonewall Bar Association, hosted the program “Model Rule 8.4(g): Over-Lawyered, Over- Inclusive, or Overdue? Discrimination, Harassment, and the Free Speech Rights of Lawyers.” The CLE ethics presentation and reception took place on February 27 at Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP; the law firm generously hosted and sponsored this successful event. WIP is off to a strong 2020, but there are plenty more events, programs, and community service opportunities this board year. • Later this spring, the WIP section will be hosting a community service project at Aluma Farm in Southwest Atlanta. Stay tuned for more details and registration information! • Next month, WIP will be teaming up with the Construction Law Section for a joint networking social. Details to follow! In June, the Women in the Profession Section will host its annual • Woman of Achievement awards luncheon. We will soon be seeking nominations for this year’s honoree; please keep an eye out for the call for submissions. the hashtag #WIP, or on LinkedIn at “Atlanta Bar Women in the Profession Section.” Membership in WIP is open to all legal professionals, in all age groups and career stages.
