Law Internship Program has introduced high
school students from our community to law as
a profession, providing support, mentorship,
friendship, and knowledge for over twenty five
years. G. Wayne Hillis, Liz Price, and Seaborn
Jones co-chair the Minority and Diversity Clerk-
ship program, offering firm clerkships to diverse
first year law students attending Georgia’s law
schools. The Law School Outreach Commit-
tee, led by Caren Cloud and Jessica Wood,
works with current law students to introduce
them into our professional network. Our new
Side Bar Initiative, led by Betsy Griswold, Chris
Lightner, and Nora Robb, links together lawyers
at all levels of practice to develop relationships
and learn from each other. And the Wellness
Committee is finding ways to make all of us
stronger, healthier, and happier lawyers.
Every day, I have the great privilege of working
with students who will become our colleagues
in three short years. Their intellect, hope, and
ideas teach me as much, if not more, than I teach
them. Their hard work and dreams will change
our profession, providing for a future of lawyers
that is reflective of our greater community and
that collaborates across generations to solve
vexing problems. Our time invested in working
with future, and new, lawyers is time well spent.
The future of law is creating a legacy where all
who need help solving a legal problem can be
served by a community of innovative humans
who use every tool they have – including knowl-
edge, technological tricks, human empathy and
understanding – to ensure that the need is met.
