SECTION UPDATE TAX LAW ANNUAL LIAISON MEETING On December 7, 2017, the Tax Law Section co-hosted the annual Liaison Meeting with the Georgia Depart- ment of Revenue. The annual Liaison provided an op- portunity for tax practitioners to meet representatives from the Department of Revenue, and learn about upcoming administrative and legislative updates. The meeting was moderated by Frank O’Connell, General Counsel for the Department of Revenue, Richard C. Litwin of The Litwin Law Firm, P.C., and Mace E. Gunter, current chair of the State Bar of Georgia Tax Law Section. JOINT BREAKFAST THE FUNDAMENTALS OF FUNDRAISING FOR NONPROFITS PRO BONO MARCH MADNESS CLE As part of the annual Pro Bono March Madness, the Tax Law Section, along with the Pro Bono Partner- ship of Atlanta, will be presenting a CLE covering the Fundamentals of Fundraising for Nonprofits. The CLE event will provide an overview of §501(c)(3) organizations, an explanation of relevant charitable fundraising registration and compliance in Georgia, as well as a panel discussion addressing various specific fundraising models and issues. We look forward to seeing you at the next event! The Tax Law Section also hosted a joint breakfast with the Estate Planning & Probate Section on February 14, 2018. The Breakfast was held at the Buckhead Club, and featured speakers covering various topics on federal tax reform. Hanish Patel Eversheds Sutherland LLP [email protected] Annual Ethics and Professionalism CLE On March 8, 2018, the Tax Law Section will be co- sponsoring its Annual Ethics and Professionalism CLE at the State Bar of Georgia. The two-hour CLE event will include speakers presenting on professionalism and ethics, with a special focus for tax practitioners, followed by a cocktail reception for a chance to net- work with peers.
