sports league Have you seen this trophy? The Atlanta Bar Association Sports League has been sponsoring various sports leagues including Basketball, Competitive Softball, Non-Competitive Softball, Flag Football, Tennis and Volleyball since the early 1970’s. Shown in this photograph are John T. Marshall (standing), president in 1974-1975, and Herbert Johnson (seated). The new ostentatious Atlanta Bar Association Herbert Johnson Sports League Trophy was named for Mr. Johnson, who admitted that he was the least athletic member of the Atlanta Bar Association at the time. The trophy was presented to the firm that garnered the most points from the various sports programs during the year for a one-year ownership. Sometime before Y2K, the trophy disappeared. The Basketball League is being revived this year with Sandi Scott (sandi.scott@yahoo.com) serving as Commissioner and Joe Hoffman (jhoffman@carlockcopeland.com) as Co-Commissioner. We would love to locate the missing trophy and continue the tradition of presenting it to the winning firm each year. If you have information about the missing Atlanta Bar Association Herbert Johnson Athletic Trophy, please contact Diane O’Steen at dosteen@atlantabar.org or 404-832-6106.
