where you can talk comfortably after work, Local Three easily fits the bill. But if it is more than just having a drink–you can make it an experience as all the people I have interreacted there are more than happy to share their knowledge and personal suggestions with you. I must talk about their weekend all you can eat brunch. I know you cannot drive half of a block in this city without bumping into a week- end brunch special. Besides the menu, Local Three stands apart as the guests actually walk through the incredible kitchen for a buffet while interacting with the staff. Like the other menus, the food is fresh, local and sustainable, but the diversity in the options continues as well. Shrimp fried rice with col- lard green kimchi sit side by side with traditional scrambled eggs. Starters included salad of bitter greens, tomato soup flavored with red curry and coconut milk, chick- en liver mousse with black pep- per lavosh and cheddar scallion cornbread. I could make breakfast just from those starters. Breakfast included pancakes, custard french toast, bacon, and their own deli- cious breakfast potatoes. There is also lunch faire available as part of the buffet such as a quiche, pork shoulder, one of the finest mac and cheese in the city and an oven roasted turkey panini. If you like egg nog, the egg nog panna cotta was dead on. Their biscuits may be some of the best I have ever had. All items stay fresh because as you go through the kitchen the line cooks are right there in front of you cooking up a new batch. Local Three has gone out of their way like with all they do to make it a true experience. As immediate past chair of the Family Law Section, I must divulge that the section is now holding their monthly breakfast meetings at Local Three. When we reached out to several restaurants in our search for a new venue, the staff at Local Three–specifically their events and catering manager–was quite receptive to our inquiry. She made it very easy to move our breakfasts there. The food at the meetings is similar to week- end brunch menu and the set up continues as on the weekends in the actual kitchen. Original dishes continue to sit side by side with standard breakfast faire. We hold our meetings in the actual main dining room, which the staff move into a configuration that matches one of a meeting hall. They provide a microphone and amplification so that we continue to hold out meetings and have guest speakers. It has been a re- freshing change to be in a casual and inviting environment at the same time being served a great buffet. Attendance has gone up. The only downfall is no bourbon at that time of the morning.
