T
he Environmental Law and Toxic Tort Section reports
holding a unique CLE program that featured Professor
John Travis Marshall of Georgia State University
College of Law, who lectured on statutory interpretation,
using as a backdrop the important recent Supreme Court
decisions in Michigan v. EPA (the role of cost-consideration
in promulgating Clean Air Act regulations) and King v.
Burwell (constitutionality of federal health care exchanges
under the Affordable Care Act). The setting for the CLE was
a state of the art classroom in Georgia State’s impressive
new law school facility, which attendees toured following the
program.

December 2015
The Section has planned several events for late winter and
spring, including a family-oriented weekend service project,
a networking happy hour with multiple sections and a joint
meeting with the Construction Law Section, which will include
a discussion of the impact of the controversial new EPA Clean
Water Act rule that interprets the scope of the phrase “Waters
of the United States.”
We thank those who have made our previous activities
possible and look forward to an exciting and meaningful
agenda for the remainder of the year.
