T
he Women in the Profession (WIP) Section has had a
productive year thus far!
In October, WIP provided intake training for members
interested in assisting with the Atlanta Legal Aid Cancer
Legal Initiative. Several WIP members and student members
gathered at the State Bar for a morning of training, which
will enable members to conduct intake for cancer patients
at Grady Memorial and DeKalb Medical Center. Information
obtained from the intake sessions is provided to ALA so that
cancer patients can receive legal services with regard to
wills, advanced directives, and employment related issues,
to name a few. WIP is proud to work with Atlanta Legal Aid
on such an important project.
The November social took place at
SmokeBelly in Buckhead. It was a great
location to meet and catch up. During
the event, we collected gift cards and
food to be donated to Foreverfamily for
the Thanksgiving holiday. Thanks to the
generous support of our members and
sponsors who were in attendance, WIP
was able to provide over $300 in gift
cards, in addition to can goods, to this
very worthy organization. WIP members
also volunteered at the monthly dinner at
Foreverfamily, where members assisted
with homework and shared a healthy meal
with the children. WIP is happy to continue our support of
Foreverfamily, a nonprofit, youth development organization
focused on supporting children of the incarcerated, as the
children, their parents and ca ɕ
