Atlanta Bar Association
Editors’ Note

and Lisa Liang (Atlanta Legal Aid Society, Inc.)
T
he Editorial Board of The Atlanta Lawyer magazine
is excited to publish the first annual Year in Review
edition. The last few years have seen quite a few
changes to the magazine, the most noticeable being the
issuing of a digital edition. The growing ease and familiarity
with digital content made it a natural transition, and has
afforded the board flexibility to not only
keep the content current, but to make
changes to the format as needed.
This past year we have also made some
significant changes to the Editorial Board,
which has resulted in a more diverse
board composition. For starters, Lisa
Liang joined the board as co-editor and
has brought a new, younger prospective to
the magazine. It was Lisa’s idea to recruit
several law school liaisons to serve on the
board to cover topics that would appeal to
new attorneys, as well as connect to the
area law schools.
“This past year, the Association not only
celebrated its 125th Anniversary, but
its members participated in countless
endeavors and charitable efforts to serve
the Atlanta community.”
We will continue to have a monthly theme, such as last
month’s wonderful articles reflecting on the 50th Anniversary
of the passage of the Civil Rights Act, but have also
incorporated several recurring sections. “The Legal Minute,”
is a short instructional piece concentrating on one specific
legal issue. “From the Bench” is authored by a member of
the judiciary which if not informative, should be insightful
and hopefully humanizing. Finally, “Tech Talk” will provide
invaluable information to those of us not as tech savvy as a
fourth grader.
6 THE ATLANTA LAWYER
December 2014
More than anything else, The Atlanta Lawyer is your guide
to the events and accomplishments of the association
and its members. This past year, the Association not only
celebrated its 125th Anniversary, but its members participated
in countless endeavors and charitable efforts to serve the
Atlanta community. As you look through the following pages,
ask yourself what you might do this coming year to be an
active part of the Atlanta Bar and how you might become a
lawyer who serves.
Happy Holidays to everyone and best wishes for a healthy,
happy New Year!
