N
ovember was a great month for the Litigation Section.
We were lucky enough to have noted trial attorney
B.J. Bernstein speak at our November meeting. Her
presentation, “Jury Selection and the Millennials,” was an
entertaining and enlightening exploration of the attitudes
that jurors born in the early 1980s and later bring to trials.
B.J. had some fascinating insights into how this younger
generation’s experiences and attitudes shape the way they
view cases, and in particular, how their prolific use of social
media affects how they process and retain information.
The Litigation Section’s Board of Directors wishes to thank
the Section’s generous sponsors:
We also held a meeting on December 13, 2013 at Ansley
Golf Club. It consisted of a panel discussion on effective
collaboration between inside and outside counsel. The inhouse counsel panelists were Michelle Rothenberg-Williams
(Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia), Robbie Kamerschen
(Aaron’s Rents), and Thomas Best (The Home Depot). Our
moderator was Steve LaBriola of Fellows LaBriola, LLP.
The Litigation Section is the Atlanta Bar Association’s largest
section, comprised of judges and litigators across the
spectrum of practices. Our membership is a balanced mix
of plaintiffs' lawyers, defense lawyers, business litigators,
mediators and dispute resolution practitioners. The Section
provides a great forum for networking with other Atlanta-area
litigators and members of the judiciary. Annual dues are
only $30.00. If you are interested in becoming a member,
please download our online application at www.atlantabar.

Three to four times each year, the Litigation Section publishes
The Litigator newsletter containing Section information,
substantive legal articles, and announcements. Please
contact Steve Cummings ([email protected]) or Cindy
Manning ([email protected]) if you have article
suggestions.
The Litigation Section’s signature event is the Bench &
Bar reception in the spring, where the Logan E. Bleckley
Distinguished Service Award is presented to a judge in
recognition of years of devoted public service as a member
of the judiciary.
