Real Estate attorney Laura Ruth McNeil , ( Hansell Post Brandon & Dorsey ) was recently named Alumna-of-the-Year at Georgia State College . McNeil earned her LL . B . degree from Woodrow Wilson College of Law .

She holds membership in the American Bar Association the Georgia Bar Association , the Atlanta Bar Association , the Real Estate Section of the American and Atlanta Bar Associations , and the American Association of University Women . Currently , McNeil is on the Board of Directors of Georgia State College , having formerly served as Secretary and Treasurer of the Alumni Association .

She and her husband , Jack B . McNeil , also an attorney in private practice , reside in Atlanta .

The program for the January meeting of the Atlanta Bar Association Continuing Education Committee is to be composed of opening remarks by Frank Shackelford on the subject " Program and Actions of Metropolitan Atlanta Commission on Crime and Juvenile Delinquency ."

After Shackelford ' s opening remarks , he will be joined by F . M . " Buster " Bird , Vice Chairman of the Commission , and Hugh Peterson , Secretary-Treasurer , in a panel discussion with the members of the Atlanta Bar on hand for the luncheon .

This program is being put on for the purpose of keeping the Atlanta Bar appraised of the activities of the Metropolitan Atlanta Commission .

The Atlanta Bar Association will sponsor a cocktail party at the Apothecary in Underground At lanta for all members on Friday , October 20 , 1972 , from 5:00 o ' clock P . M . to 7:00 o ' clock P . M . In the past there have been no social functions at which mem bers of the Atlanta Bar could meet one another and socialize and it is hoped that as many members as possible will attend this party and participate .

If attendance is good more such activities may be held in the fu ture at periodic intervals . Drinks will be $ 1.00 and hors d ' oeuvres will be served . In charge of this party is the Social Activities Committee which is chaired by Ronald L . Reid . Other members are Fred Ajax , Jr ., Barbara S . Bent , Fred Lynn , Robert L . McHaney , Jr ., Charles Schreeder , III , and Sidney F . Wheeler .
