The 2018 Legal Runaround Race Walk and Tot Trot was
held on September 8, 2018 at John Howell Park in Virginia
Highlands. The race is cosponsored by the Atlanta Police
Department with proceeds benefiting the Atlanta Bar
Foundation Police Scholarship fund. The fund supports
post high school education for children of Atlanta Police
Department officers who have been slain or disabled in the
line of duty. Over $200,000 in scholarship support has been
distributed through the fund to date.
Atlanta Bar President Nicole Iannarone recognized the
2018 Peace Officer of the Year which is awarded to an officer

who has displayed exemplary qualities of professionalism,
courage and/or gone above or beyond the call of duty. Three
officers were recognized this year for their teamwork, quick
thinking and heroism in removing a trapped citizen from a
burning car and extinguishing the fire. The recipients are:
Officer Brittany Williams, Officer Christopher Davis and
Officer Charlies Tierney.
Atlanta Police Academy cadets participate in the race and
run to a steady cadence chanted by their instructor. The
family friendly event also included a Tot Trot for younger
participants to join in the fun.
