SECTION UPDATE ESTATE PLANNING The Estate Planning & Probate Section is looking forward to another excellent year! The EP&P Section became a sponsor of this year’s Atlanta Bar Foundation’s End of Summer Party at Park Tavern. In a drawing at the August EP&P breakfast, the Section gave out tickets for the event and VIP reception for members in attendance. In order to increase the Section’s pro bono work, the Board established a Pro Bono/Community Activities Committee. Jackie Saylor, Tim Curtin, Hamida Jackson-Little, and Julia Hightower are the committee members. We welcome other members of our section to recommend ideas for Section involvement in Pro Bono/Community Activities to the Committee. Contact Jackie Saylor at jsaylor@ saylorlaw.com or (404) 201-2180 with any ideas. As has been done in past years, the Estate Planning & Probate Section will continue volunteering at the Fulton County and DeKalb County Probate Infor- mation Centers (PICs). The lawyers are scheduled by the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation and the DeKalb Volunteer Lawyers Foundation. Mem- bers need 5 years’ experience in Probate Law before they can sign up to volunteer at the PICs. In June, Nick Djuric of Bowden Spratt Law Firm spoke at our breakfast meeting. In July, many of our members went to St. Simons Island for the State Bar of Georgia’s Annual Fiduciary Law Conference and we hosted the Welcome Reception at the King & Prince. In August, the EP&P section breakfast’s speaker was Loraine DiSalvo of Morgan & DiSalvo and. iIn September our breakfast speaker was Helen Lally of Westfield Insurance. The Section will hold our annual Estate Planning Forum on November 29 at Nelson Mullins’ offices in Atlantic Station. The Tax Section is cosponsor- ing this event. The Forum’s speakers will be David DeJong and Farhad Aghdami CLE credit will be offered and a reception will follow.
