BANKRUPTCY

The Bankruptcy Section concluded another successful year of Credit Abuse Resistance Education ( CARE ) presentations at eleven high schools across the Atlanta Metro Area . This program allows experienced members of the Bankruptcy Section to present financial literacy information to high school students with the goal to help students better understand the responsible use of credit . This year , over thirty five members of the Bankruptcy Section and seven judges from the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia volunteered as presenters for the CARE presentations .

On March 10 , 2019 , the Bankruptcy Section also participated in the Pro Bono March Madness CLE event with a program on Advocacy in Adversary Proceeding presented by Gregory M . Taube ( Nelson Mullins Reilly & Scarborough , LLP ). The event was held at the State Bar of Georgia headquarters and included training for one of the Bankruptcy Section ’ s pro bono initiatives ( the Adversary Proceeding Project ). The Adversary Proceeding Project matches up volunteer attorneys with qualified litigants in bankruptcy adversary proceedings . The program serves both plaintiffs and defendants , who are parties to adversary proceedings pending before the U . S . Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia .
