We asked The Atlanta Bar Association Board of
Directors "Il dolce far niente is the sweetness of
doing nothing. What do you do when you find
yourself with that luxury/space?"
“Sometimes I sit and
think, and sometimes I
just sit.”–Spanish proverb

When I find some free
time, I try to learn a new
skill. I will either take a
class or just do a little
internet research. The
next skill I'm going to try to develop is
coding through classes at General
Assemby in Ponce City Market.
Gino Brogden Jr., The Brogden Firm
I will find a great show
to binge watch or read
one of the many books
gathering dust waiting
for me to read them!
Caren Cloud, Truancy Interven-
tion Project
I've gotten into adult
coloring books. It's
fun, relaxing, and at
the end I'm looking at
something pretty.
Melissa Redmon, Office of the
Fulton County District Attorney
When I have free time,
I take my family hik-
ing. When I announce
we’re hiking, my chil-
dren inevitably protest.
But during the hike itself, they al-
ways get engaged, pointing out
a gnarled tree or the shape of a
cloud or the colors in the sky.
Shawn Shepard, Smith & Carson
I listen to audiobooks
or podcasts. Since I
spend so much time at
work reading, it’s hard
to “read” in my spare
time. Listening to books is the key.
Right now I’m in the middle of Fahr-
enheit 451. Maggie Vath,

This brand of sweetness
typically results from
cancelled plans. It is a
joyful experience, be-
cause the structure of
the day disappears, and anything is
possible. And by “anything” I mean
strolling the BeltLine. Or laundry.
