State Bar Commitment to Equality Awards State bar Honors Lynn M. Roberson Selected to Receive Commitment to Equality Award T he Atlanta Bar Association congratulates Lynn M. Roberson, who will be honored at the State Bar of Georgia’s upcoming Commitment to Equality Awards, on behalf of the State Bar of Georgia’s Committee to Promote Inclusion in the Profession. Each year the State Bar recognizes select individuals and legal organizations for their enduring faithfulness to the goals of promoting diversity in the legal profession and the provision of opportunities for members of underrepresented groups. Lynn was nominated by Jessica J. Wood, and the selection committee wholeheartedly concurred with her view that Lynn exemplifies the purpose of these awards. Lynn enjoys a stellar reputation for promoting inclusion and advancement of individuals who have been underrepresented, including women attorneys, attorneys of color and LGBT attorneys and their allies. She is committed to assisting attorneys in the creation of new client relationships and she uses her leadership skills to get them a seat at the larger table. Lynn’s commitment extends beyond attorneys: recently, she helmed an effort to get the Atlanta Bar and the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers to sign an amicus brief in support of same-sex marriage. As an active member of the Atlanta Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, Georgia Association for Women Lawyers, 26 THE ATLANTA LAWYER April 2015 Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, and Lawyers Club of Atlanta, Lynn is an outspoken supporter of diversity. The 2015 awards program will be held on Thursday, June 11 at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, beginning at 6:30 p.m. and concluding at 8:30 p.m. About the Awards These annual awards recognize individuals, companies, and/or legal employers in Georgia that have shown a strong commitment to promoting diversity in the legal profession and who are committed to providing opportunities that foster a more diverse legal profession for members of underrepresented groups. About the Committee This standing committee shall facilitate, analyze, and present for consideration initiatives and programs which increases participation, retention, and representation of diverse attorneys in the legal profession in Georgia that accurately reflects the makeup of our State. In this effort, the Committee will work towards inclusion of lawyers who have been historically underrepresented.
