law-related education
The State Bar’s LRE Program also administers the Georgia
Law Honor Society of Secondary Schools (“GLHS”), which
is open to high school juniors and seniors maintaining at
least a 3.0 GPA. The GLHS gives students the opportunity
to participate in civic and community service projects related
to legal studies or criminal justice, to receive recognition for
their academic achievement, and to wear purple honor cords
at graduation symbolizing their respect for the justice system.
Local bar associations, law firms, and individual lawyers
are encouraged to serve as sponsors for their local GLHS
chapters, providing yet another opportunity for students,
teachers, and parents to have an early positive experience
with the legal profession.■
