Journal congratulates the Astrological
Lodge of London on its glorious centenary
this year – a fantastic achievement. Yet at
least one notable voice in astrology has
an alternative view on the Lodge’s birthtime. Responses or counter-arguments to
the letter below are welcome.
100th anniversary (not) of the
Lodge
Way back in 1915, Alan Leo founded
the ALTS, the Astrological Lodge of the
Theosophical Society, which lasted until
1994. There was, however, the desire
for a group that was more independent
of the TS, and we here need to look at
what happened at the AGM of the ALTS
in November 1982, under the Presidency
of Geoffrey Cornelius. The constitution of
the ALL (Astrological Lodge of London)
declares that it was adopted on the 15th of
November 1982.
I wish to argue that this was the
creation-date of the Lodge, when three
things happened: the name of ALL
was adopted, the Constitution of the
Lodge was adopted, and a membership
thenceforth became adopted whereby
one could simply belong to the Lodge
without having to belong to the TS. The
