Let us look at something that has baffled some people, got some groups into heated debates, got some people confused, and some love them. Let us take a look at spiral wrapped rods where guides do not follow conventional placement thus requires some unconventional thinking. What Is It? Spiral wrapped rods are conventional and / or baitcasting type rods with its guides placed somewhat like a spiral staircase towards a 180 degree angle. With the reel sitting above the rod (rod placed horizontal), the line is led towards the bottom via spirally affixed guides. 127
