I had my fair share of challenges, the great distance and the huge costs are
always a concern. My application for unrecorded leave for participation in
sports was turned down by my employers and requests for sponsorship were
also all replied in the negative. Against all odds I made it to Ireland and caught
a few fish, travelling thousands and thousands of miles on limited budget, I
had to borrow tackle, hitched rides with others but it was all worth the adventure!
Steve and I had an early start the next morning to catch the morning ferry
from Dublin. It was a full ship this time with hundreds of Man United supporters on board. We headed for Birmingham for a stop at my cousin’s place
where I bade farewell to Steve.
