I’ve certainly learnt loads, and identified areas that I need to improve on,
which are very important, things that hopefully will turn me into a better
angler and a better person. The two main things that I’ve learnt are the hard
work and preparation that had to be put in to fish effectively in this event.
Whoever says that angling is a relaxing sport is probably not doing it right!
The Lakelands & Inland Waterways World Pairs Angling Championship is the
biggest success story for angling in Ireland. Designed to showcase the magnificent angling on offer in the Lakelands region it is one of the few matches
attracting international standard anglers with no qualifiers. No better opportunity to fish alongside your heroes yet still have the opportunity to bring
home some winnings with the inclusion of the DAIWA sponsorship providing daily section money as well as top ten overall. This combined with the
massive sponsorship from Lakeland and Inland Waterways and Ireland-Failte
partnership with some help from local tourism agencies makes it the richest
coarse match in Ireland (for more information visit www.worldpairsangling.
com or follow them on Twitter or Facebook). My partner Kevin knows angling in Ireland inside out, he fished the festival circuit solidly for a time, he
runs a number of matches aside from the World Pairs and brings anglers to
fishing locations all over Ireland every year (for more information visit www.
irelandtravelplus.co.uk).
