eland cky Race! By Tengku Izzudin @ The Guv’nor A fter 4 full competition days, all the anglers are gearing up for the 5th and final day. I’ve had mixed results in the previous days and hoping to better my placing in the final table. I realise that in this kind of big events, the anglers must be prepared in every way as the competition takes its toll on your tackle, your stamina and your morale. At the end of the fouth day, the Adam Wakelin and Rob Wootton pair is still ahead with 145.030kgs followed by Darren Davies and Bob Nudd with 105.550kgs. As for Kevin and I, well, let’s just say we’re in the top ten, but at the wrong end! Day 5 Final Day : ‘The End of the Wacky Race!’ as my mate Fergal puts it. I draw peg no 9 at Bunerky Lake so Kev will fish Brackley and he drew peg no 4. As Kevin dropped me off at the gate to Bunerky, it was then I realised that we had to walk for miles to get to the pegs with our heavy kit! “Make small trips lad, otherwise it’ll do you in”. Good advice indeed and I reckon everyone made at least 3 trips to carry all our tackle to our pegs. 345
