The River Monster rod that we had is
made to cast out heavier lures (3/8 - 1
1/4 oz). We were casting an 18g Abu Island II spoon for this test and the distance gained is quite good. Casting a
1/4oz. lure still gave us acceptable distances although it is below the rod’s lure
weight rating.
* The line plays a role too and it will
fare better with braided line of the same
poundage (smaller diameter).
