In this case one specific type of crankbait that
poses a threat to these lazy summer largemouth
is deep diving crankbaits. Deep diving crankbaits rang anywhere from depths to 8ft-20ft and
sometimes even deeper. These baits are designed
to target fish that lurk in the depths. Fishing deep
diving cranks in and around deep rocking flats,
drop-offs, ledges, and any places where fish seem
to stack up in deep water is key to catching sluggish fish.

When fishing deep cranks it is important to cover as much water as possible by making long cast.
It is important that the angler is equipped with a
long glass or composite rod ranging from 7’ 6”-7’
11” in order to launch their bait in the designated area. The other important factor when fishing
deep cranks is to use light lines. Lines that are too
heavy and too thick in diameter will not allow
a deep diving crank to sink to its full potential.
