ever closer to becoming a 24-hour society, and that constant stimulus can make it difficult to focus on what spirit is trying to bring through. It seems peace and stillness are ephemeral.

I wanted to know where you find individuals that are at your same level of development with their abilities. We closely identify with those that are most like us, so where are the representations of us in the media? How are you supposed to navigate quarter life crises when you have spirits whispering in your ear trying to get your attention all the time? I have a social media life to maintain, I have to pay bills, and I have to figure out where it is that I want to go in life. Where are the representations in the media that show how to deal with that? Art imitates life and life imitates art, right, so why is it that Bravo hasn’t created a Real Mediums of Miami?

When I was growing up as a little black girl in the South, the only brown faced metaphysician I remembered seeing on TV was Miss Cleo — and we all know how that turned out. In the spirit of inclusivity and clarity, I’ll use that umbrella term to describe psychics and mediums. So, when we think of metaphysicians we think of the old sages that have the discipline to meditate constantly. They go off on different retreats and walkabouts to strengthen their connection with spirit. You have the Doreen Virtues and the James van Praaghs, and you see their amazing body of work and you think, how did they navigate their twenties and thirties while doing this stuff? I can imagine a few constants, but things had to be a little different — the culture and climate of society was different. Most millennials are navigating life in a culture that is growing
