Alignment
When positioning the shapes within the existing
structure, I made sure to align some of the rooms
with the external and existing interior walls to create
a more harmonious design.

at their current height. This also means that the
external windows are at the correct height for the
new design.

Pods
Within the scheme I have designed smaller pods for individual
working or smaller groups. This creates a space for people
to work in a quieter environment or enable individual
teaching at the same time as a larger group activities. Three

Façade retention
In order to preserve the existing exterior walls to allow for
construction of the new interior design, facade retention
will need to be implemented as some of the current structural
beams and columns are being removed. Once the

The façade retention I am using within my scheme will be

This process will need to be assessed by specialists.
Positioning
Each of the studio spaces is carefully positioned
so that the room receives the maximum amount
of natural light possible. Most of this will be north
light which is ideal for creative subjects because it
shows subject matter in a cooler atmosphere. This
allows the artist to have greater control over contrast
and colour.

In order to support the new structures, new columns
will be put in place, similar to that of the
studios in Melbourne.
However the internal wall towards the back of the
building will remain as existing.
