What?
A ‘creative space’ allows people to discover and learn or develop
creative skills. The facility will offer classes and workshops
in painting, pottery and drawing, as well as organised
activities during school holiday time to encourage all age
groups to visit. An exhibition space and community cafe will
enable local artists to display work to inspire the public and
users.
Why?
Art subjects are a form of expression. They allow individuals
to discover skills and creativity which they may not
have been able to develop in other ways. The arts are
often viewed as less important than academic studies.
Despite this, there has been research demonstrating
how the arts can not only boost personal well-being
but also how they impact on other elements of life.

The Arts Council and Lottery Funding have previously
worked together in funding art based schemes.
The National Lottery has funded over 565,00 projects
since 1994, raising a lot of money for good causes including
many art projects.
The Art Rooms will offer free taster workshops, family workshops
and paid weekly classes as well as school holiday
classes.

Funding cuts mean more focus on EBacc subjects and less
on creative subjects.
One of the main beliefs and aims of the Arts council
is to help transform the lives of individuals and communities
through experiencing the arts. They also
aim to offer everyone the opportunity to create and
participate in the arts. These aims mirror the intentions
I have for my scheme and the Arts Council and
Lottery Funding will be able to provide the necessary
support.
