Jananne Al-Ani studied Fine Art at the Byam
Shaw School of Art and graduated with an MA in
Photography from the Royal College of Art in
1997. She is currently Senior Research Fellow at
the University of the Arts London.
Recent solo exhibitions include: the Beirut Art
Center (2013); Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur
M. Sackler Gallery, Washington DC (2012); Darat
al Funun, Amman (2010); and Art Now Tate
Britain, London (2005). Group exhibitions
include: Mom, Am I Barbarian? 13th Istanbul
Biennial (2013); Sharjah Biennial 11 (2013); the
18th Biennale of Sydney (2012); and the 54th
Venice Biennale (2011). She is currently showing
work in the exhibition She Who Tells a Story at
the Museum of Fine Art, Boston.
Recipient of the Abraaj Capital Art Prize (2011),
her work can be found in public collections,
among them the V&A and Tate, London;
Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC; Centre
Pompidou, Paris; Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; and
Darat al Funun, Amman.
