A 1979 PHD graduate of philosophy from the
State University of New York, Mostafa pursued
post-graduate studies in Arts and Crafts at
Oslo University. Since his first exhibition in 1966,
the artist has held more than 40 exhibitions
locally and internationally.
Mostafa has held several prestigious positions in
the Contemporary Egyptian Art Movement.
He was Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education
for Arts and Music and Professor of Design,
Faculty of Art Education, Helwan University;
Head of the Egyptian Society of Folk Art; Chair of
the Art Education Curriculum Development
Committee; Chief Editor of Fine Arts magazine of
the Supreme Council of Culture and Chief Editor
of the New Culture Magazine of the General
Authority of Cultural Palaces.
He has always been preoccupied with Egyptian
folk art and expresses the romantic realities of
peasant life using animal motifs, mainly birds and
horses, to symbolize various emotional states.
