BUCKINGHAM PLACE LONDON, HILL HOUSE INTERIORS
Hill House Interiors reworked Buckingham Place, a period London townhouse, as an adaptable, fully furnished home capable of supporting both private occupation and the rental market.
The project balances the architectural identity of the original building with the durability, flexibility and ease of maintenance required of a high-quality investment property.
The client’ s intended use of the house changed several times during the project. Initially acquired as a part-time London base with rental potential, the property was subsequently considered as a private residence incorporating dedicated office accommodation before ultimately becoming a furnished rental home. Hill House Interiors therefore developed a scheme that would feel established and characterful without becoming overly personal or prescriptive.
The spatial plan was reorganised to make better use of the townhouse’ s available daylight. The kitchen, previously located in the basement, was moved to an upper floor so that one of the principal everyday living spaces could benefit from improved natural light.
