THE AESTHETIC SIGNATURE OF HAUTE COUTURE
When conceiving the feminine Égérie collection, Vacheron Constantin took the world of Haute Couture as its inspiration, celebrating the craftsmanship, know-how and rarity, as well as the passion and creativity that it shares with Haute Horlogerie. Details on the dial allude to beading, embroidery and braid; the pleated texture of the dial centre – repeated around the periphery – recalls the swirl of a skirt; a delicate interplay of textures and intertwined shapes suggests the structure of an exquisitely cut gown; the curling form of the numerals is reminiscent of the scalloped patterns of lace; interchangeable straps in a variety of materials add a further stylistic twist.
Égérie is also a contemporary expression of aesthetic codes cherished by Vacheron Constantin, notably the off-centre display – in this case playing on two intertwined circles, anchored by the crown set between 1 and 2 o’ clock and amplified by a ring of diamonds
around the subdial, a circle of polished 18K gold beads around the dial centre and a diamond-set bezel. The hand-painted strap – and the alternative in grosgrain fabric – make further allusions to the crafts and materials of Haute Couture.
