The debut of the 50Steel in 2024 marked a pivotal milestone in the shipyard’ s sustainable evolution, ushering in a new chapter towards carbon-neutral yachting with the delivery of the world’ s first superyacht equipped with a Green Methanol Reformer Fuel Cell system, capable of powering the hotel systems with zero emissions.
SUSTAINABLE ONBOARD ENERGY
While it may sound like a marvel of modern engineering, and it is, this innovation is much more than a technical achievement. Developed in collaboration with Siemens Energy, this revolutionary technology converts green methanol into hydrogen and subsequently into electricity, powering all onboard systems without the need to store hydrogen.
The implications are as elegant as they are transformative: the yacht can generate up to 100kW of electrical energy with its engines and diesel generators completely shut down. The result? Whisper-quiet serenity at anchor, uninterrupted by fumes or fuel consumption, a truly seamless blend of luxury and sustainability.
