Home House was originally commissioned in 1773 by The Countess of Home as a sophisticated palace designed purely for enjoyment to entertain London ’ s high society of the 18th century . Famous at the time , Lady Home earned the nickname “ Queen of Hell ” for her “ irascible behaviour and lavish parties ”, which inspired today ’ s club ethos of once again becoming ‘ A Shrine to Hedonism ’.

Home House private members club has been host to many colourful characters and iconic moments over the years , in a setting that is steeped in 250 years of captivating history .
Designed in 1773 by leading architects James Wyatt and Robert Adam , one of the most celebrated architects of his day , the Grade-I listed building is acknowledged as Robert Adam ’ s finest surviving London town house . Home House became home to many famous personalities throughout the years and the club ’ s 23 opulent bedrooms and suites are named after the house ’ s intriguing former residents , such as the Duke of Newcastle and Anthony Blunt .
The famous Earl Grey tea gained its popularity at Home House when Charles , 2nd Earl Grey occupied the property from 1812 – 1819 and Lady Grey used it to entertain the political establishment of the time .
