LUXURY TRAVEL 93 developing a special ‘ Iguana path ’ to attract Secret Bay ’ s other special guests – we saw a total of four of these native reptiles on our stay , small and large . You can ’ t help but notice the resort is in fact peppered with the sounds of nature . Tropical birds , cicadas and frogs all chirp away night and day , around each luxury abode .
Additionally , there will be a new all-day restaurant and kombucha brewery , with a mini movie theatre for children to be entertained while parents dine . The hotel also is also up on trends and plans to install a pickleball court – the new craze in the US , a fast combination of tennis , badminton , and ping pong . Along with this , two new gyms will open – one a ‘ jungle gym ’ and one open air .
The resort aims to showcase the sea to guests with its own water sports and leisure boats , plus inlet Marina . Secret Bay also values the ocean , running the only coral restoration programme and nursery on Dominica planting new corals .
Lulu ’ s class was responsive to our needs , as she quickly picked up on our level , practise and intentions . Calming and kind , I found she perfectly suited the bespoke ethos of Secret Bay . Our class was a blend of Hatha and Vinyasa and Lulu ended with the most beautiful mantra - “ everything you ’ ve done in your life has brought you to this moment right now ”. And as I laid in Shavasana , I recounted the many magnificent moments we were lucky enough to experience over just a few sacred days at Secret Bay .
Paramount to the Secret Bay guest experience is relaxation . Secret Bay has a small semi-outdoor therapy suite overlooking the sea . We experienced a heavenly massage , with Tilly as our therapist and the resort recently acquired a wellness consultant from Switzerland to relaunch its spa concept as ‘ Micro-Spas ’ – different spa experiences dotted over the property .
If you are a budding Yogi , the yoga deck at Secret Bay is the most blissful location I have ever practised . Raised above beach level , you are afforded dramatic sea views and experience the soundtrack of lapping waves throughout the class . Yoga is taught by Lulu , who trained 16 years ago in San Diego .
Rates start at £ 742 per night based on double occupancy in a Ylang Ylang villa including breakfast .
