A Contemporary Reimagining of Heritage English Elegance Across 10,250 Sq Ft.
LAURA HAMMETT UNVEILS A LANDMARK YORKSHIRE COUNTRY ESTATE TRANSFORMATION
London-based luxury interior design studio Laura Hammett is proud to announce the completion of their latest full-scale project: the interior architectural design and furnishing of a 10,250 sq ft former Victorian country lodge, set within more than 1,000 acres of private parkland in the heart of rural Yorkshire. Reimagined as a warm, contemporary family home, the estate overlooks rolling grounds, ancient woodland, and a private lake with a boathouse- elements that deeply informed the interior story.
From the outset, Laura Hammett’ s design ethos centred on creating a seamless dialogue between interior and landscape. The result is a home where natural light, organic textures, and timeless detailing blend effortlessly with refined modernity. The project features new furniture and lighting pieces from the Laura Hammett Living‘ Modern Heritage’ collection, designed by Laura herself.
THE CLIENTS & DESIGN BRIEF
Quote from Laura Hammett:“ The homeowners on this project are a couple with adult children and young grandchildren who visit often. They wanted the majority of the home to feel quite classic, with hints of contemporary. They loved the idea of taking influence from traditional design, done in a more‘ modern’ way, which is our signature as a design studio, so we had a deep understanding of this client brief. As they loved these design principals, the clients really allowed us creative free-reign. As part of this, we were able to develop new Laura Hammett Living furniture and lighting pieces, inspired by this project. Particular favorites include the Audelia chandelier, inspired by nature with its antique brass decorative leaves and branches. We also tailored our LHL designs for the different types of living areas required. For example, we developed more elevated versions of our Modern Heritage sofa designs( Lupton and Lawton) with more formal detailing like fringing and trims, but also took the designs in a more relaxed, paired-back direction for the casual TV room by adding skirting to the base.
They wanted the home to feel very light and bright throughout, even in the formal areas. The clients
