RUBY BECOMES A SOFA
A COORDINATED SYSTEM FOR A COHESIVE DESIGN VISION
DESIGN: CASTELLO LAGRAVINESE STUDIO
This year, the design duo Castello Lagravinese Studio returns to expand the Ruby family by Cattelan Italia.
On the occasion of Salone del Mobile. Milano 2026, the brand chooses to broaden its upholstered furniture offering, reinforcing the concept of a cohesive system designed to meet the needs of the contract sector, while maintaining the versatility needed for contemporary living.
Ruby evolves from an armchair into a sofa. Soft curves and generous proportions define the transition between the extra-large seat, distinguished by visible stitching, to the backrest that gently embraces the body, naturally extending into the armrests. A formal gesture that defines the identity of the entire collection.
Even as a sofa, Ruby shows its Sandinavian ispiration: the wooden frame, consistent with its armchair counterpart, lends solidity and character to this new furnishing piece. Wood is a refined and durable material capable of creating a cocooning effect, welcoming the soft cushions padded with high-density foam.
Primarily designed for contract and hospitality environments, the Ruby sofa finds its ideal place in a hotel lobby, a prestigious lounge, a waiting area, an executive space or a contemporary office. The visible stitching highlights the meticulous, tailored attention to detail, reflecting the project’ s 100 % Made in Italy identity, while fully meeting the functional and durability requirements of these demanding settings.
