Steingraeber is the oldest manufacturer within the small group of the top six high-end piano buiders throughout the world according the US pianobookranking. Fanny and Alban Steingraeber represent together the 7th generation beeing in charge of the familiy business. At the same time Steingraeber is one of the most innovative pianocompanies. The combination of their craftmanship, individual sound and focus on customer’ s and pianist’ s needs makes Steingraeber beeing represented in concert halls, recording studios, universities and conservatories all around the world and highly appreciated and honored by the former and current stars of piano-playing: beginning with Franz Liszt and Richard Wagner up to Martha Argerich, Dmitry Shishkin, Daniil Trifonov and many more today.
As another core of their work they are experts in special design pianos. With their boutique size manufactory the piano makers can react easily on special wishes and disuss design ideas in there team and bring them to life. They are internationally known for their
dedicated veneer- and artisticwork. This is illustrated by projects such as the Utzon Grand, designed by Jørn Utzon, the architect of the Sydney Opera House. This concert grand has its place at the Bagsværd Church near Copenhagen and can be re-built upon request.
Steingraeber invites their customers to let their imagination run wild- there are endless ways to design a piano and match it perfectly with its surrounding. Try it and embark on a voyage of discovery in their veneer warehouse, change the shape of your piano or make it colourful. In their manufactory you can feel and smell the scented charm of oiled wood, and explore the very shape of the instrument in a profound way. Long story short, design there your dream piano... yourself!
Artists and customers are welcome not only to visit Steingraeber and see their showroom and selection halls in Bayreuth( as well as the
orgininal Steingraeber Liszt-Piano in their Piano-museum) but to design their piano in the manufactory with the traditional workshops – and also don’ t experience the musical city of Bayreuth. The invitation is broadend to be guests in one of their three artist apartments directly in the historic Steingraeber-House.
You can be sure that the Steingraeber artisans work until your instrument is not only absolutely perfect but also unique. Such masterly craftsmanship brings to life something truly individual and of a special quality that you can feel, see and above all hear.
