Wood is everywhere and oxymoronically blends with noble metals to form a clean , graphic contrast . The traditional architecture of the chalet is retained in the structure and yet eagerly responds to a more modern design . The reclaimed wood , recovered from abandoned farms , was sanded and then refreshed . At the heart of the chalet , the staircase is reimagined as a vertical cage in wood and bronze . The staircase is the chief orchestrator between spaces .
The main living room ’ s fireplace is made out of blue stone and natural wood : the sleek style symbolises the harmony between tradition and modernity . The floors are a dark-stained oak which contrasts with the snowy landscape outside .
