OMNIA VINYL LIFT WRAP
AT NEWFOUNDLAND , CANARY WHARF
Newfoundland is a 220m tall newly built apartment building at the forefront of Canary Wharf . To compliment the interior décor our clients wanted a subtle gold effect on the lift entrances from floors 3-58 . 4 newly installed passenger lifts service the building . Each floors ’ lift lobby had 4 entrances , 4 indicators and 2 full height call button panels that required wrapping . The client had already chosen PA-046 from the 3M Di-noc architectural vinyl range . Along with other companies , Omnia vinyl were asked to carry out a demo installation wrap on site . The quality of our demo wrap ensured that we were the chosen company to take this lift wrap project forward .
Due to the sheer scale of this project and the volume of vinyl involved , it was manufactured specifically for us by 3M Japan .
With the material due to arrive mid- January and building handover scheduled for early March , the client requested an accelerated installation programme to meet the PC date . The lift installation , commissioning and testing was still in progress , so this accelerated programme had to take these factors into account . We broke the installation down into 3 phases .
Phase 1 : All surfaces that required no interaction with the lifts ( architraves , indicators , LOP ’ s )
Phase 2 : Lift entrance frames ( 2x lifts at a time controlled on preference by Omnia Vinyl )
Phase 3 : Lifts doors ( 2x lifts at a time controlled by onsite OTIS engineers )
THE NUMBERS INVOLVED IN THIS LIFT WRAP ARE STAGGERING :
1536m of vinyl installed . 672 Large architrave panels wrapped . 672 Small frame sections wrapped . 448 Door panels wrapped . 222 Floor indicators wrapped .
112 Full height call button panels wrapped .
We committed to complete the wrap installation within 35 days to meet the clients requested accelerated programme . Phase 1 and 2 were started simultaneously , with a 15 day target for completion of both phases . This was achieved on target keeping the project on track for phase 3 and a 20 day target for the door wrapping . We completed the door wrapping in just 18 days all while working with the OTIS engineers to ensure their own programme of testing and commissioning ran to schedule . The entire project was completed in 33 days , 2 days ahead of schedule .
