One of the main features of this property , previously obscured by poor planning , is the breadth of the raised ground floor . By placing the kitchen and atrium at the very centre of the house and forming large openings on each side of it , one can now appreciate and enjoy this lateral space .
Immediately upon stepping into the original entrance hall , views begin to open up to the spaces beyond on the left and right-hand side . As you turn towards the kitchen , these views expand , both laterally and vertically , and continue to open up , creating a wonderful sense of space and light .
A palette of wide , pale Douglas fir floorboards and muted walls provide a canvas for pops of colour such as handmade Danish floor tiles and fitted joinery . These quality finishes respect the heritage of the building whilst providing a playful Scandi backdrop for modern family life .
