The Art of Design Issue 36 2019 | Page 8

8 Starting with the layout Thomas immersed himself in the lifestyle of potential buyers to start to build the design in his mind. As the owner could be an international buyer it was important to make the design universal so it could appeal to someone from Russia or China for example but also have a nod to its location. What we created was an international design with a strong London touch. Buyers of this type of property want to buy a bit of London so we tried to express that. So there are some tweeds in there and some buttoned furniture. The sofa has a touch of Englishness to it. Most of the furniture has a Mid-20th Century feel to it. The Dean armchairs in the living room are from Alter London. There are Ventura lounge chairs in the entrance hall with an Acerbis Creso table, which has an opulent gold leaf base. The artworks are purposefully eclectic but stand back from the main space without intruding.
