30 RMGB Rue d’Aboukir Paris – 120 m2 Contemporary duplex apartment, completely renovated. The upper part of the duplex consists of a large living room bringing together the kitchen, dining room and living room. It was necessary to connect all three living spaces in order to create a harmonious and bright ensemble. The same color was used for the wall and flooring for this level. Upon entering the apartment is the kitchen area. The kitchen furniture was designed as blocks of different sizes and materials forming an abstract landscape. The extension of these blocks leads into the dining room with a custom-made bench and a small library in smoked black glass. The living room is built around a long black marble bench. The selected furniture pieces are deliberately compact, functioning as satellites making it easy to reconfigure the layout. A ladder gives access to the mezzanine which was designed as a colorful interlude in the apartment. There is also a guest bedroom and a small spare bathroom The lower level of the duplex, just like the upper level, has only one colour for the wall and flooring throughout. The colour is a warmer dimmer gray with a Solunite resin floor in the same tone. The original exposed beams were treated with a natural varnish to create a warm atmosphere.
