APDT Foundation seeking 2024 grant proposals

BACKGROUND The vision of the Foundation is to be more than a funding source but rather an integrated program of research and outreach . The APDT Foundation ’ s mission is to support applied scientific research on dog training and behavior and to further increase the knowledge base of the dog training profession and related fields . The APDT Foundation is a corporation organized for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of 501 ( c ) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 with tax ID number 27-1498724 . The 2024 APDT Foundation Board consists of : Lisa Rae McCluskey , president ; Catherine Hancock , vice-president , Suzanne Mackay , secretary-treasurer ; Lynn Rives , immediate past president ; plus trustees Jennifer Brown , Rhonda Feinberg , Patricia Tirrell , Heather Mishefske , Sarah Anderson , and Fanna Easter ( APDT liaison ).
2024-2025 GRANT INFORMATION The APDT Foundation makes financial awards for academic research in behavior analysis , ethology , cognition , and training & behavior modification . The Foundation will offer up to 5 grants annually of $ 2,500 each . The proposing institution must be an accredited degreegranting college / university or a non-profit research institution .
Preference is given to proposals that have practical application for trainers and behavior consultants and to projects that include collaboration with the training & behavior community . Grant submissions that create canine science outreach and education opportunities will also be considered by the APDT Foundation . The deadline for early bird submissions is April 9 , deadline for other submissions May 2 , with grant award notification by May 23 .
Upon publication of APDT Foundation funded research , we will distribute the results of those studies via the Foundation website , and to the dog training community through APDT ’ s magazine , Chronicle of the Dog . The APDT Foundation will also present research they support to APDT for a possible invitation of the Principal Investigator ( PI ) to attend the APDT / CAPDT annual educational conference and share their work in a poster and / or lecture format .

2024 VIRTUAL AUCTION The Foundation Board is currently planning its 2024 auction ( s ). More information will be in the SUMMER Chronicle of the Dog . As the Foundation is a registered 501 ( c ) 3 charity , all donations are tax deductible according to the Internal Revenue Service rules and regulations .
